Plant Fiber - Cotton and Wool
Sponsored by California Women for Agriculture

At this station, children learn about cotton production, the cotton gin and how California grows and harvests cotton. Colorful pictures help tell the story, and everyone gets to experience the feel and texture of cotton by pulling apart a cotton boll.

What do sheep and humans have in common? We happen to wear the same clothes. Here, students will see how wool is cleaned, spun and woven into the fibers that make the clothing we wear. We demonstrate how to rid a sheep of its woolen jacket by shearing an animal. Wool spinners will exhibit their skills by spinning and weaving wool, cotton and other natural fibers.
